King of the Camp

Tired of events where you “just” need to find vulnerabilities and exploit targets?

Well, how about a competition where you need to find vulnerabilities, patch them, defend the infrastructure against other players and capture the flags? All in 90 minutes. Sounds crazy? No, it’s just King of the Camp.

Goal of the Competition

/ Learn and exploit vulnerabilities

/ Patch vulnerabilities

/ Learn how to escalate privileges or pivot to other users

/ Learn how to maintain access while other players will try to block you

/ Learn how to automate tasks to capture and maintain the target

/ Be King of the Camp

Gameplay

/ The competition will have rounds of 90 minutes for the entire period of the event

/ You can join in any of the rounds

/ You will get points for static flags that can be received once you access any of the users from the machine

/ Each round will have up to 30 checks, in each check, we will look for a file called “/root/king”, owned by root. If your cyberedu-uuid (you can find it on your profile page) is in this file, you receive extra points. 

/ Be sure to invite your friends to make the experience even better

Rules of Engagement

/ This competition is part of DefCamp’s Hacking Village 2021 activity series. You need to have a valid DefCamp ticket! 

/ Teams can have only one member.

/ No DDoS allowed

/ No sabotage of other players permitted

/ Do not attack the infrastructure. If you find a problem, please report to us.

/ Don’t ask for hints in private. We will only give hints that are available to all the teams.

/ For the final flags you are required to create a write-up.

/  Only the best can win

Other rules

/ You are not allowed to delete flags, specific users.

/ You are not allowed to modify files that may alter the proper functioning of server services.

/ You are not allowed to block other player’s connections

/ You are not allowed to ruin the experience of other players

/ You are not allowed to abuse restarts

/ You are not allowed to modify certain files that will be mentioned by the organisers

/ You are not allowed to interact with servers that you are not assigned to

PRIZES

The winners will be selected by raffle out of all players that solved all challenges or the best-ranked player at the end of the competition.
