FAQs – General Questions & COVID-19 related information
What are the latest news about DefCamp 2021?
Due to the latest local government decisions, DefCamp 2021 will take place full ONLINE. All information below regarding the hybrid format are no longer available as all activities will be moved online.
How can I attend DefCamp 2021?
DefCamp 2021 is hybrid. You can join us on-site / in-person in Bucharest, Romania like always and meet cyber security experts, industry leaders and companies interested in their overall security or you can get access only to the virtual conference and virtual Hacking Village competitions.
For the first time this year, we will also have a Discord channel dedicated to DefCamp that we plan to keep on growing every year. You will be able to interact with other participants, ask questions and discuss Hacking Village tournaments.
Will the content be the same at the in-person event and the virtual event?
DefCamp 2021 was created hybrid-friendly from the beginning. That means that we will try to propose meaningful activities that can be accessible also remotely. However, we don’t promise to replicate everything online or provide the same level of interaction like an in-person event.
Hacking Village contests & tournaments may differ, you won’t be able to ask questions to in-person speakers and you won’t be able to meet us or get DefCamp swags. 🙂
Do you have capacity limitations?
While the location we proposed has room for more than 2,500 people at the same time (pre-covid), we will limit the capacity to create a safe experience for everyone.
In the best interest of attendee comfort and safety we would limit attendance to ensure that proper distancing is maintained and capacity limits are following the national guidelines and regulations. It is recommended that you secure a badge with us when we open the registration process.
Please note that if the recommendations are changing, we might be forced to cancel and move online some in-person tickets to still accommodate the health requirements.
What health measures & protocols is DefCamp taking to ensure a safe environment on-site?
DefCamp is working closely with the venue to provide a safe and healthy experience for all.
All attendees and staff will be vaccinated and wearing a mask. We will comply with whatever safety measures are required of us and we take the organization of the proper environment seriously to ensure a smooth DefCamp 2021..
How do I prove I was vaccinated?
You must provide a copy of the EU Digital COVID Certificate at the reception when checking in. If the regulations allow us to accept COVID-19 tests, we will enable this feature as well but we cannot commit at this point.
What about the queues, lines and other large density areas?
This year we have changed the venue to make sure we can accommodate these things without any issue. The event will be redesigned in such a way that people will be able to have enough space to keep distance with other partners. Social distancing will be introduced at any aspect of the event.
This may include distanced seating in event rooms, traffic lanes in the hallways, larger rooms, more strategic areas for food and drinks, dedicated entry and exit points, and more.
There will be dedicated support onsite to ensure our rules are being followed.
Do you have any exceptions for health requirements?
Masks will be required for all participants except when eating or drinking, or if they present something on stage. If you are unable to wear face coverings due to medical reasons, please consider attending virtually.
Will food be served and what will that look like?
Food & Drinks will be provided but we will adhere to safety measures.
What happens if DefCamp has to cancel the in-person event or is shut down – can I get a refund?
In the event the national requirements force us to reduce the number of on-site tickets, we will comply and downgrade last registrations to online-only tickets.
In the event we have to cancel the in-person event we will switch your on-site ticket to an online pass and refund you the difference in price (excluding taxes) and receive all the benefits of the online pass, just like we are doing for everyone ordering a virtual-only badge.
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
You should be at least 18 years old for night activities but usually no activity organized during the day will need a specific age. However, we encourage you to ask permission from your legal guardian if you are younger than 18 years and/or invite him as well. We have lots of activities for non-technical people as well.
Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
You can reach us using the contact page from the website or join the discord channel.
Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
Yes, you should contact us for details but no later than 14 days before the event.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
You can print the ticket or bring a copy of it on the phone.
What is the general refund policy, except COVID-19 situation?
Please read the Terms & Conditions from the website.
