Deceptive Ops

The Deceptive Operations contest is designed to challenge your pentest abilities in a practical way. You’ll have to navigate through decoys and look-alikes and use your experience and knowledge to pin-point the correct targets. You’ll interact with various complex services and get acquainted with new and interesting ones.

Goal of the Competition

/ Identify the real services, get the flags.

/ Identify honeypots and deceptions
Gameplay

/ You will receive one or more targets at the beginning of the competition

/ Some of the targets contain services that are traps, honeypots or deceptions

/ Some of the targets are “real” services that will contain vulnerabilities

/ You will have to map the infrastructure, classify services (honeypot or not) and steal all the flags

Rules of Engagement

/ This competition is part of DefCamp’s Hacking Village 2021 activity series. You need to have a valid DefCamp ticket! 

/ Teams can have only one member.

/ No DDoS allowed

/ No sabotage of other players permitted

/ Do not attack the infrastructure. If you find a problem, please report to us.

/ Don’t ask for hints in private. We will only give hints that are available to all the teams.

/ For the final flags you are required to create a write-up.

/  Only the best can win

PRIZES

The prizes will be awarded to the first player to steal all the flags or the best-ranked player at the final of the event.

Moreover, the best write-up that describes each service and if it’s a honeypot or not, and the method used to classify will receive the “Best Write-up” prize.

There will also be a raffle for all the players that have positive scores.
