Software Engineer – Big Data at Booking Holdings (DC-0066)

This role provides a hybrid way of working with an onsite presence of 2 days/week.

Account Security

Role description

You will be involved in designing the architecture and choosing the technologies to fit our high-performance requests in terms of data availability and consistency, response time, and traffic patterns, while working with the latest tech stack: Snowflake, Airflow, Spark, Kafka, AWS.

Role responsibilities:

  • Play a key role in creating scalable, flexible and high-performance data processing pipelines to enrich our analysis and machine learning models for prevention, detection, and remediation mechanisms.
  • Focus on innovation to address complex technical issues associated with distributed systems.
  • Own the solution end to end, from design and implementation to deployment and monitoring in production.
  • Cultivate a collaborative environment by serving as a mentor and coach for the team members.
  • Make us better as an organization by communicating your improvement ideas and proposals to partners beyond your team.

Requirements:

  • Computer Science (or related field) degree and 3+ years of relevant work experience
  • Proficiency in 1 or more server-side programming languages – preferably Python, Java
  • Experience with crafting and building scalable and flexible data pipelines in distributed environments with technologies such as Hadoop, Cassandra, Kafka, MySQL.
  • Experience using data-intensive processing frameworks (Spark, Kafka Streaming ) is a plus
  • Strong algorithm and problem-solving skills
    Experience working with Kubernetes and Docker will be considered a plus.
  • Excellent English communication (written and spoken) skills.
