Radu Ionicioiu

Senior Researcher in Quantum Technologies IFIN-HH

Radu has 20+ years of experience in quantum information and quantum technologies. His interests include all things Q: quantum technologies, quantum information, quantum communications, quantum computers, quantum imaging. Radu is a member of the Strategic Advisory Board (EU Quantum Flagship) and coordinates the QTSTRAT project (Developing the Romanian National Strategy in Quantum Communications). He also founded RoQnet, Romanian Quantum Network, aiming to develop quantum technologies in Romania.

Cybersecurity in the Quantum Era

I will discuss the upcoming threat of quantum technologies on cybersecurity, the so-called Quantum Apocalypse (or Q-Day). A quantum computer will be able to efficiently break current public-key crypto-systems & primitives (RSA, elliptic curves, Diffie-Hellman etc), and represents a serious threat for cybersecurity. Then I will explore the two ways out, the classical way and the quantum way. Finally, I will present the state-of-the-art of the field and what is being done globally.
